John Brady TD Welcomes Mary Lou McDonald to Wicklow

Sinn Féin TD for Wicklow, John Brady, has welcomed the visit of Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald to Wicklow yesterday, praising the fantastic work of the local community organisations they met throughout the day.

“It was fantastic to have Mary Lou in Wicklow yesterday. We had a brilliant day meeting with some incredible groups and organisations doing absolutely vital work right across the county”.

The day began in Fassaroe, where Deputy Brady and Mary Lou visited the Wellbeing Hub Group at the Bray Family Resource Centre, alongside representatives from Bray Travellers Development Group and the Marian Centre.

“The collaboration between the Family Resource Centre, Bray Travellers and the Marian Centre is truly inspiring. The conversations we had were powerful and a real reflection of the strength of community-driven support work happening on the ground in Bray”.

The next stop was Bray Lakers, where they met members and saw firsthand the ongoing redevelopment of the centre’s facilities.

“The progress at Lakers is phenomenal. Phases 1 and 2 of the redevelopments are looking absolutely fantastic, and it’s brilliant news that Phase 3 is kicking off next week. This project is a huge step forward for everyone involved and speaks volumes about the dedication and energy of the Lakers team and the wider community”.

The day concluded in Rathnew, with a visit to the Foróige WAY Youth Diversion Project at the Alley Youth Centre.

“This project is a lifeline for so many young people in the area. What we saw and heard in Rathnew made it clear just how essential these types of youth initiatives are – not just for Rathnew, but for communities across Wicklow”.

Deputy Brady extended his sincere thanks to all those who welcomed them on the day.

“We had plenty of great chats, plenty of tea, and plenty of laughs. A huge thank you to all the groups who gave us their time and shared their stories. Your work is making a massive difference in your communities”.
