Brady Calls on Simon Harris to clearly state how he intends to meet his St. Patrick’s Day deadline for reopening of Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk

Sinn Féin TD for Wicklow, John Brady, has called on Tánaiste Simon Harris to clearly state how he intends to meet his St. Patrick’s Day deadline for the reopening of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk.

The call comes after the latest report presented to Wicklow County Council outlined the possibility of the Cliff Walk being closed for another three years.
Teachta Brady said:
“It is completely unacceptable that the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk, that is so treasured by the community and has been closed since 2021, could remain closed for another three years.
“Where is Simon Harris on this?
“Just before Christmas, he promised both short-term and medium-term solutions and committed himself firmly to a re-opening deadline of St. Patrick’s Day 2026.
“That’s just eight weeks away, what is he going to do now to honour his pledge to his constituents?
“Excuses aren’t going to cut it.
“It has always been widely understood that environmental factors around Bray Head would need to be considered in any plan, as Harris well knew, but yet he assured the community of a March 2026 re-opening.
“It’s a familiar story for the Tánaiste and his government – all talk and no delivery.
“It’s the people of Wicklow who suffer as a result of any delay.
“The Cliff Walk is one of the most iconic coastal routes in the country.
“It holds huge economic and recreational value for Greystones, Bray, and the wider Wicklow area.
“Every year it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, benefitting local businesses and the wider economy.
“Its closure has been a major loss and it’s time for real leadership to deliver the outcome the community has long been promised.
“If the Tánaiste needs a shovel to start work and to meet his St. Patrick’s Day re-opening pledge, he can let me know.”
