Brady calls on NTA to extend 45A Bus Terminus at Kilmacanogue by one stop for benefit of passengers

Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has called on the National Transport Authority (NTA) to intervene to extend the terminus on the 45A Bus to Kilmacanogue by one stop, which he argued would take no effort on behalf of the NTA but would make a huge difference for passengers alighting there for Kilmacanogue and Avoca. As when passengers leave the bus at the last stop which is on the Southbound Lane, the bus then travels up through Kilmacanogue and stops again directly opposite the terminus stop on the Northbound Lane. Currently passengers are forced to use the pedestrian bridge, while laden down with shopping and other bags, while they watch as the bus, they are obliged to exit stops again directly opposite where they had to leave the bus. Brady confirmed that he had been in contact with the NTA asking them to remedy the situation.

Brady said:

“It is definitely a bit of an anomaly, but one which can be remedied with a bit of common sense. But it certainly makes no sense whatsoever to continue with the current situation.

Where passengers leave the 45A Bus on the Southbound Lane, from which they then travel over the pedestrian bridge often in inclement weather, from where they can watch the bus, they just alighted from take off again a few short minutes later, exit the N11 go across through Kilmacanogue and stop directly across the road on the Northbound Lane.

I have been in contact with the NTA over the last number of months raising my concerns about this situation on behalf of the passengers who avail of the service. A very simple solution, which I have outlined, is available. And it is my hope that the NTA will see sense and adopt these changes very soon.” ENDs
