Wicklow Sinn Féin Easter Commemoration to Take Place in Bray on Easter Monday

Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has announced details of the party’s annual Easter 1916 Commemoration, which will take place in Bray on Easter Monday, 6th of April, at 12 noon.

The commemoration will assemble at the Town Hall on Bray Main Street, and members of the public are warmly invited to attend.
Deputy Brady, who will be the main speaker on the day, said the commemoration is an important opportunity to honour those who gave their lives for Irish freedom and to reflect on the continued relevance of the ideals of 1916.
Teachta Brady said:
“Easter is a time to remember the men and women of 1916 and every generation who stood for Irish freedom. They were ordinary people who did something extraordinary in pursuit of a united and independent Irish Republic.
“The vision set out in the Proclamation, of a republic based on equality, freedom and justice, remains our mission today. It continues to inspire us in our work to build a better future for all of the people of Ireland.”
Highlighting the significance of this year’s commemoration, Deputy Brady continued:
“This year marks 110 years since the Easter Rising and 100 years since the Easter Lily was first introduced by Cumann na mBan. I would encourage everyone attending to wear an Easter Lily with pride in honour of all those who gave their lives for Irish freedom.
“Ireland is changing, and the conversation around Irish unity is now firmly underway across society. The opportunity to reunify our country is real, but it will not happen by accident – it must be planned for, organised, and won.
“Sinn Féin is committed to leading that effort, ensuring that unity is not just an aspiration but a practical project to build an Ireland that works better for everyone.”
Teachta Brady also pointed to the challenges facing people today:
“Across our communities, workers and families are dealing with the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis, housing shortages, and stretched public services.
“Sinn Féin is focused on delivering real solutions, while continuing to build towards a united Ireland.
Concluding, Deputy Brady said:
“At Easter, we honour those who went before us and draw strength from their courage.
“Their struggle is now our responsibility.
“The goal of a united, sovereign Ireland that cherishes all of its people equally is within reach, but it is up to us to build it and to win it.
“I would encourage everyone to attend the commemoration in Bray and to play their part in shaping Ireland’s future.”
